The Difference is...I'll Respond

So Isaac Smith, who of refused to accept my challenge to a debate, challenged me to cut the budget:
But as you surely know, it's one thing to talk in generalities, and quite another to get down to specifics. So what, Brian, would you cut? Here's the FY2008 budget; have at it. And of course, it's not just enough to propose budget cuts, but you have to demonstrate that these cuts will not impair the ability of the state to carry out its duties in education, in health care, in public safety, etc. You may not think the state has such duties, and that perhaps is the difference between you and me.
Of course, I have the size to actually respond to such a challenge. So read it and weep. And I actually went further than just cutting the budget by reallocating some of the money to where it was actually useful, and by privatizing certain state assets. So what you see here is a net savings of over $3.6 billion. And yes, public secondary education, public safety, and health care are not impacted at all.

I know in fact that the FSP people (who have called me delusional incidentally) will cry and scream that a lot of these things that I am cutting or privatizing are part of the role of government. Except government either should not be doing it in the first place, or certainly is not doing it well right now....

Plenty of Reasons Why

There is probably a good reason why the Free State Politics crowd stopped talking about global warming when Maryland's conservative blogosphere started talking extensively about it this week. The facts just aren't on their side, and this post at RedState from California Yankee goes a long way towards consolidating numerous links, studies, and reports detailing the total lack of consensus on the issue, including a recent report from the Senate's EPW Committee report noting the hundreds of scientists who are skeptical of the alleged "consensus."

This is just endemic of the problem on the left once again, much as it was with my debate throwdown. The majority of liberals like to talk smack and bloviate about generalities, but try to get them in a discussion about facts they get scared and run to momma. It's a sad statement on political discourse when you can't even get your opposition to stand up for what they believe in, but it's becoming painfully obvious that is what the modern urban liberals have become...

Inside the Fringe Left Mind

I don't think anybody ever accused Andrew Kujan (left) of ever getting it when it comes to the discussion of issues and the undertaking of political discourse. So needless to say when he "replied" to my challenge to a debate today, even I was somewhat stunned that instead of actually sticking to the issues, he went off in directions that even I could not fathom that Kujan could come up with.

Are we in Jr. High Brian? Are you going to give a me purple-nurple and take my lunch money? Maybe give me a wedgie or throw some spitballs?
Huh? But it gets better....
While debating a conservative parody might be interesting, I think I will take a pass.
Because God knows we couldn't possibly talk about issues in a public forum.
I mean, you got what you wanted already, right? You got to humiliate several people you have never met.
No, what I wanted was a freaking debate on issues with you, Smith, Luedtke, or some of the other spewers of vitriolic, hate-filled babble over at FSP; maybe you didn't get the memo. Bruce Godfrey stepped up, and he has never been afraid to take on the issues. Robb Black asked to participate and I think it's great to include a third perspective. I was never out to embarrass anybody. The only thing that would seem embarrassing, in my eyes, would be that you and some others got called out on the carpet and backed down when challenged on your ideas; and Kujan did that to himself.
Readers of this blog are familiar with conservative wet dreams of liberal humiliation. I would appreciate if you would LEAVE ME OUT OF YOURS in the future.
Uh....I'm not even sure how to respond to this claptrap, though I think he's projecting again.

Kujan's screed about my "bravado" just proves my point about the far left who wish to scream about issues and cry about Conservative bullies. When it's time to talk issues, they are no where to be seen. It's why liberal talk radio fails. It's why the mass media is losing readership to the internet. And it's why certain members of Free State Politics won't debate me....

Amsued by their petulance

The petulance of FSP blogger "lefty" is amusing:

All in all, here's the deal: the debate is a foolish one, and you don't want a debate, anyway, you want to provoke and annoy people and feel all big and strong.

Not buying. Go away, little boy. Play with your toys somewhere else.

The left thinks that this is engaging the issues.

But no, lefty refuses to engage in a debate over the issues. Neither does Isaac Smith, Andrew Kujan, or Eric Luedtke. The seem to feel comfortable in espousing their ideas and hate-filled rhetoric from behind a keyboard, but don't have the size to step into a public arena. It probably has something to do with the fact that when they stick to the issues, they lose.

Therefore, I will be taking on Democrat Bruce Godfrey and Green Robb Black in a debate sometime in the new year on the issue of parties and the working class. They stepped up and accepted a debate on real issues and not just obfuscation and name calling from behind a keyboard and I appreciate their forthrightness.

If Smith, Kujan, Luedtke, et. al find the heart, we'll make something work. But until then, I think we can say the team at Free State Politics does not have the courage of their convictions to stand up for their issues. And that's disappointing.

Throwdown

Crossposted on briangriffiths.com, RedMaryland, and Free State Politics....

OK, I've pretty much had enough of the liberal blogosphere trying to demonize Republicans and conservative ideas and then, when challenged on those very ideals, we get stupid stuff like this from Eric Luedtke:
I didn't respond to any of what you wrote......because I have no interest in wasting my time engaging with you.
So, it's time for a throwdown.

I challenge any contributor, any blogger, from Free State Politics to a live debate on which party better represents the middle class, the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. And I mean a live debate. With a moderator. A timekeeper. Podiums. An audience. The whole nine yards. We'll promote the debate in our respective circles, and then let the debate speak for itself as to who is right and who is wrong on the issue.

Name the time. Name the place. Name the opponent. Let's work something out and get this done. I have the courage of my convictions to step up and do this. Does anybody else?
